Our Vision

Here at Lifeway we exist to give our lives away to help others find and follow Christ. Everything we do is intentionally designed to reach people whatever stage of life they are in and to show them that God loves them and has a purpose for their lives.

We have a clear and compelling vision of what God desires his church to be…

A worshiping church
Everything we do must flow out of a true knowledge of who God is and what he desires for our lives. Romans 12:1b Present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship.

A reaching church
It is God’s will that everyone come to know him through his son, Jesus Christ. It is our passion to bring thousands into the kingdom of God. Matthew 28:19-20 Go…making disciples baptizing them…teaching them to obey all that I commanded you…

A connecting church
We will grow larger and smaller at the same time by hosting LifeGroups where people connect with others to encourage and sharpen one another to live life the way God intended it.

An intentional church
We will use ever-changing methods to communicate God’s unchanging message to our generation. We will always sacrifice tradition for relevance. 1 Corinthians 9:22 I try to find common ground with everyone so that I might bring them to Christ.

A reproducing church
We will start dynamic new congregations to fulfill the great commission. Acts 1:8 But when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, you will receive power and will tell people about me everywhere…to the ends of the earth.”

 Our Beliefs

There is one and only one living, true and triune God:

God the Father is God. He is the Creator of all things and Preserver and Ruler of the universe. He is all-loving, all-just, all-wise and all-powerful. Gen. 1:1

Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ is God. Jesus lived a sinless human life and offered himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all by dying on a cross. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate his power over sin and death. 1 Cor. 15: 3-4; Phil. 2:5-11

Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is God. He is present in the world to make people aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He lives in all Christians from the moment of salvation, providing them with power for living and guidance in doing what is right. John 16:7-13; Gal. 5:22-25; John 4:24

The Bible
The Bible is the historical record of God’s activity written by mankind, but inspired by God’s Spirit. It contains no error. It reveals the plan, purposes and will of God for all time. Psalm 119:105; 2 Tim. 3:16

The Church
The church is a group of believers brought together by the Spirit of God to carry out the Great Commandment by practicing the Great Commission. Matt. 22:37-40; Eph. 5:23-27

Salvation is the gift of God for all humanity and is offered freely to all who accept Jesus as Lord and Savior. It was obtained by the substitutionary death of Christ on the cross. Rom. 5:8-9; Rom. 6:23

Grace is the unmerited favor of God and shows us his goodness. All who have accepted Christ and are set apart will never fall from grace but will endure to the end. Eph. 2, 8-9; Eph. 4:30

Baptism is an outward expression of an inward change that has occurred in the life of the believer. It is identification with Christ by picturing his death, burial and resurrection. Matt. 28:19; Rom. 6:4

The Lord’s Supper
The Lord’s Supper is a memorial service where we remember Jesus’ sacrifice. The bread and cup are symbols of his broken body and shed blood which were given for our salvation. Luke 22:19-20

Men and women were created by a special work of God in his image and are the finest of all creation. They were created innocent, but with a free choice they sinned against God and fell from their original state. Gen. 1:27; Rom. 3:23

Our History

Lifeway Church is the vision God gave Craig Walker when he and his wife Debbie moved to Celina in August 2006. The seeds for the new church were planted in the hearts of about fifteen people meeting in a living room and grew rapidly into a launch team.

The first preview service was held September 2007 at Celina High School with eighty-three attending. Preview services were held once a month for the next five months and the launch team grew to over 100. The church officially began on February 10, 2008 with the vision of reaching those who have given up on church but who have not given up on God.

Core Values

We value God’s word.
God’s word is the standard by which we live. It is the rule by which we govern all that we do. Obedience to God’s word is how we measure our faith and love and is the purest form of humility, worship, and how we glorify Him.  God’s word is our ultimate authority. Therefore, we will teach it, preach it, and exhort every man, woman, boy and girl to read and meditate on it daily. God planned for us to live successful lives long before we were born and He gave us His word as our map for living life to the fullest.

We value prayer.
We believe God wants to do incredible things through His church. Throughout history He has proven that much of what He does is in response to prayer. Prayer slows us down to enjoy God’s presence and speeds us up as we go forward in his power. A thought that consumes us is that God shows up not so much because we need Him to or even because we hope that He will, but because we have, in faith, asked Him to. Prayer is not a last resort to the problems we can’t fix, but the first response to God’s goodness, power, mercy, grace, and love.

We value people.
People are the supreme object of God’s love. God is love. Therefore, everyone born of God loves. It was love that motivated God to send His son that we might be reconciled to Him. As the family of God we will engage with one another through small groups, serving teams, and individually to care for, exhort, correct and encourage one another. It is love that motivates us to not only care for other Christians, but to give our life away to help others find and follow Christ. We will reach out to those who are far from God, openly and unconditionally accepting them as they are and giving each man, woman, boy and girl the best opportunity possible to know God.

We value life-change.
“Come as you are, but don’t stay that way.”
Teaching is for life-change. God gave us His word not for our information, but for our transformation. We believe that healthy things grow. While God uses many things to grow us, there are three main environments we have focused on to promote growth; the weekend worship services, LifeGroups, and serving opportunities.

We value generosity.
We believe God’s resources are for sowing and not for hoarding, for sharing and not for storing. Therefore, we will generously give our time, our talents, and our treasures that the people of God may be helped, the word of God may be spread, and the mission of God may be fulfilled.

We value celebration.
Because the joy of the Lord is our strength, we look for opportunities to celebrate the presence and goodness of God. We love celebrating God’s victories; big and small. When God shows up displaying His glory, it is worth celebrating.

We value excellence.
Excellence is not the same as perfection. Excellence is doing the best we can with the resources we have.  Excellence is nothing more than good stewardship and is the honorable way to live and serve our Lord and other people.

Being a Christian is more than just an instantaneous conversion – it is a daily process whereby you grow to be more and more like Christ.

Billy Graham

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.

Martin Luther King, Jr.

God cannot give us a happiness and peace apart from Himself, because it is not there. There is no such thing.

C. S. Lewis
